In the first I am an active addiction, more depressed than I’ve ever been, trying to cope by using substances, people, food and anything I could involve myself in no matter how dangerous and destructive. In the second, I am clean and sober, nourishing my body with what it needs, incorporating healthy movement into my life, going outside, spending time with friends and family, working to not hold grudges, and smiling genuinely. If you asked me a year ago what I would be like today, I would probably tell you I didn’t think I would be alive. I’ve never been more grateful to be alive than I am right now. It works if you work it and fuck the cliches because seriously… if you’re kind to yourself and focus on what you need, you’re then able to help others and that is powerful… 🖤
