so to start fun fact friday out, I wanted to share an experience I've had with the diet I've been eating to heal my two autoimmune diseases! ꕤ . . . . .. . . . . . . . . so, I'm eating a strict carnivore diet (look up carnivore diet and autoimmunity on Reddit, youtube, anywhere and you'll see some crazy success stories!) and I have been DESPERATE to get better, get my mind back, and get my BODY back! So I've been doing it for about 3 weeks now, and the most intense side effect of this diet is how much my depression and anxiety has lifted. How much better my sleep is (when I'm following the diet lol) Even you guys notice a change too! Someone who hadn't been in my room for a while commented on how different I am. He said there's more life in me and that I even looked healthier than before. And he's not wrong! Anyways, that's not the point of this post. The point of this post is to teach you how to tell if your body is having a poor reaction to something you're eating. So one of the benefits of the carnivore diet is that it's an "elimination diet." I take out all food besides meat so my body has a break from toxins and inflammation. After some time healing, I then reintroduce foods to see if my system can handle them. That's where things get interesting. So I've been strict carnivore for 3 weeks. I decided to try to add back in macadamia nuts because they're DELICIOUS. As soon as I swallowed the nut, my heart begines to race (scroll to see how high my heart rate got while I was SITTING DOWN eating these nuts. It went from 65 to over 100 bpm!) Later that day, I'm in so much pain I almost had to cancel on an important meeting with a friend. However, the worst part about this? My depression came back. My anxiety shot through the roof. My sleep for the next THREE DAYS was shot (6 hours, ZERO REM SLEEP, and tossing all night.) I was triggered easily, unmotivated, and unable to complete what I had to do for the day. After being SO motivated and happy for 3 weeks straight, going back to how I was before was absolutely terrible for me. This type of elimication diet is helpful because when you're inflaming your body 24/7, the symptoms aren't as loud because you're USED TO being in pain. You're used to being inflamed. It's just normal for you! Your normal isn't normal though! You're not supposed to feel depressed, anxious, bloated, sad, angry, and not able to sleep. We've been taught that all of this is just "normal" behavior that just comes with being human. That's 1000% false. So, I took out all of my inflammation, right? So I was able to really feel how terrible these nuts made me feel. My body just cannot handle them right now. I need to give my body more time to heal before reintroducing nuts again. I'll go into why this is the case at another time but I just wanted you to look for these signs after you eat something! I have a friend who didn't believe me when I told her about all of this. She was like "you're too woo woo for me right now." And I said fine, at least I tried and put the information out there. Later that day, she eats Mexican food. Immediately after she has heartburn. "Oh, I just get like this sometimes, it's totally normal for me." I smiled and said, "babe, it's not normal. you dint have heartburn until you put that food in your mouth." And her mind was blown. so, a couple of take-a-ways: ꕤ listen to your body after you eat. do you feel tired? angry? depressed? take note of how you feel both before and after. fasting for a bit helps with this too. if you fast until noon and take note of how you feel on an empty stomach THEN you introduce food, it's more apparent what the issue is. ꕤ secondly, question your "normal." question your normal in every sense of the phrase, not just food and health, but lifestyle, work, relationships. question yourself. ask yourself why more often. *sidenote: I've been documenting everything on this diet, the good and the bad. it's one of the videos I want to make for youtube when I have all my gear! help me with my gear: https://marigoldgift.com/zetabb/youtube
