I’ve been always fascinated by art, I spent most of my early years sneaking into the room where my parents had their books and enciclopedias to slowly browse those pages full of paintings and that (very rare) photo of a nude person or very well photographed sculpture. I loved to let myself go by that warm feeling and sensuality those images provoked on me, and hated when either the photographer or the artist used so much shadows you could not see a thing. I wanted to see that thing!!! Fast forward to this moment in time, and we are bound to cover our images with watermarks, crop them, and everything that comes to mind so disrespectful members of the audience don’t steal and distort those creations. Appropriation is one of the words that define this decade. There’s a big part of society that believes that everything that’s online is theirs to take without any regard to the source or consequence. Why nurture a talent or study anything when you just can steal somebody’s work and say it’s yours? Going even further, most of them don’t even care to learn anything from what they steal, they just want the rush they feel with each comment, like or follow, moving very soon onto the new thing, because those rushes don’t last long. Wouldn’t it be nicer to at least acknowledge the source? I firmly believe that if you throw good things at life, good things will come at you at some point. I’ve seen proof of that. I also used to believe there was justice in this worlds and bad people got what they deserved eventually. But I haven’t seen any of that yet. Maybe the point is just to keep giving, learning to give without expecting anything. As I was telling my dear @u196978976 earlier, part of the healing process is letting go, forgive and forget.
