With the rise of violence and harm against the Asian community, I have been galvanized to be a voice and organizer to combat the white cishet supremacist powers that attack our beautiful community.

Last Sunday, I spoke at a rally that centered the solidarity that is necessary and has existed for a long time between the Black and Asian communities to overcome this oppression, and prioritized Black and Asian women and queer/trans people as being at the forefront of liberation movements.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
My speech touched upon how we need to focus on the layers of misogyny, racism, and classism that killed the 6 Asian women in Atlanta two weeks ago. These women worked low wage jobs literally doing CARE WORK and body work, healing the body of strangers to get by. And akin to the full service sex work that I’ve done, that hardest part about body work is not just the physical labor, but it’s more so the emotional work that is the most draining and taxing part. We are not just tending to physical needs, we are also creating spaces for people to relax, be vulnerable, and feel safe to indulge in pleasure from a skilled practitioner that they may not be able to find elsewhere. This work is honorable, like therapy or spiritual cleansing, and there is always a need for it in this economy of exhaustion and exploitation. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
But how can this CARE WORK be so disregarded and disrespected ? Why is it mocked as cheap sexual favors, the “happy endings” that patrons feel entitled to because they can exploit their power ? These Asian workers typically come from immigrant backgrounds, sometimes undocumented, and their disadvantaged position is abused by those with money because these workers are not considered human.

As a non-binary Korean sex worker, I empathize with the hardships and mistreatment these women bear, the dehumanization that lead to their death. And I will continue to use my voice and energy to ensure my people, my children will never have to face the same kind of pain again.
